In the on going violence in Syria, an estimated 28,974 persons including 2,164 children have died since the escalation of violence. On Sunday’s fighting further 35 civilians were killed when troops loyal to President Bashar-al-Assad launched house-to-house search operations In Daraa, Bosra and Dael, a statement from Strategic Research And Communication Center said.
Summary of Events
More than 35 people were killed in the indiscriminate and fierce shelling that targeted the Daraa suburb of Bosra. Meanwhile, more than 25 civilians were summarily executed and their bodies were burned by the regime forces in the Daraa suburb of Herak. Over 90 bodies were also discovered in the Damascus suburb of Daraya raising the death toll to more than 315 civilians, residents however continue their search efforts for more bodies.
Regime forces intensified its military offensive in the north of the country, heavily bombarded the village of Mar’aand in the province of Idlib, destroying scores of houses and leaving dozens of people dead and many more wounded. Dozens more were killed and hundreds were wounded as they resumed the shelling of Sahl al-Ghab in the suburb of Hama and the neighbourhoods of Sha’aar, Hollok, al-Bab Road, Masaken Hanano, Bustan Qaser, Maysaloun, Aqyoul, Kasila, Itha’aa, Fayd, Sukari and Bustan Zahera in the city of Aleppo.
Combat helicopters bombarded the neighbourhoods of Jobar and Tadamon in the capital as regime forces carried out sweeps, arbitrary arrests and arson in the neighbourhood of Kafarsouseh. Regime forces also bombarded the provincial towns of Madaya, Moadamiya, Hamouriya, Rankous and Qatana leaving scores of people dead and many wounded.
Regime forces continued its attacks on the neighbourhoods of Khaldiya, Jouret Sheyah and the neighbourhoods of old Homs and its provincial towns of Rastan, Krak Des Chevalier, Tal Kalakh and Talbiseh, destroying scores of houses, and killing and wounding many civilians. Heavy bombardment of the city of Daraa was renewed as well as its provincial towns of Heit, Inkhel and the villages of the Lajat district. They also resumed the shelling of Babna and Jankeil in the province of Latakia as well as the city of Deir Azzour and its provincial town of Boukamal.
Clashes broke out in the city of Raqa between rebel fighters and regime forces, similar clashes were also reported throughout the country.
