Denver police investigators made a major breakthrough when they arrested a teenager on Tuesday night in connection with the kidnapping and murder of 10 year old Jessica Ridgeway.
The teenager, Austin Reed Sigg, 17, of Arapahoe Community College was arrested on Tuesday night at his home in Ketner Lake Open Space on a tip-off, a news release from the West Minister police department said.
“This morning the Ridgeway family was notified of this arrest,” Westminster Police Chief Lee Birk said. “We hope and pray this arrest gives them some measure of closure in dealing with their horrible loss and tragedy.”
Charges against Sigg would be filed for May 28th attempted kidnapping of an adult jogger near Ketner Lake, which helped detectives  them to make a connection to Ridgeway’s kidnapping and death, Denver Post reported.

Sigg would be making his first court appearance tomorrow (Thursday) at 10.00 a.m. and he will be charged with two counts. Jessica Ridgeway was snatched in the morning of October 5th when she was on her way to the school just about one and half miles away from where Sigg lived with his mother. Sigg an award winning student has no previous criminal history, according to police.
Police were combing through the neighborhood of Ketner Lake looking for further evidence.

On Monday, police confirmed between Jessica’s disappearance and the attempted abduction of an adult jogger on Memorial Day near Ketner Lake. That woman told authorities that a man attempted to cover her face with a chemical-soaked rag.
The woman said she initially jogged past the man before he grabbed her from behind, “trying to put a rag over her mouth. She said the rag had a chemical smell on it. She was able to get away and call 911 from her cell phone,” police documents say.
The woman described the man as white or light-skinned and between 18 and 30 years old, with brown hair and a medium build. He was about 5 feet 8 inches tall.

Jessica disappeared after she left her Westminster home to walk to school. Her dismembered body was found 11 miles away in an Arvada open space on Oct. 9.
