Investigators
are sifting through pile of evidence after a Mexican beauty queen was
shot dead during a fierce gun battles between deadly Sinaloa drug
traffickers and government soldiers inside a cartel-held Mexican state
of Sinaloa on Friday, last week.
Maria Flores, 20, was killed when she was riding in a minivan with drug traffickers who opened fire at soldiers manning a check point. The Flores family immediately denied allegations that their daughter was in league with the drug traffickers.
Flores was crowned as the beauty queen of Sinaloa State this year and beauty queen and was sent to China to represent the country.
Five people were killed in the gun battle between the soldiers and the traffickers. Flores’s boyfriend was among the dead.
Local media outlets quoting Flores’s family said that she was “at the wrong place at the wrong time” and she was killed when she was on her way to work.
The soldiers after a few minutes of gun battle raided a nearby safe house and seized large amount of cash, six trucks and an armored vehicle.
