Taliban vows to avenge executions of its men by Afghan and Indian governments

Afghanistan government has executed six suspected Taliban militants just 24 hours after eight death row criminals were hanged in mass executions on Wednesday.

The Taliban immediately announced that President Hamid Karzai’s government would face serious consequences if any other political prisoners are executed.
Karzai approved for the rare mass executions. The men were charged for terror tactics including organizing suicide attacks on government personnel and its interests.
Taliban appealed to International organizations to intervene immediately to prevent further executions.
On Wednesday European Union urged Karzai’s government to immediately halt further executions citing the government was violating international human rights. The eight men who were executed the previous day were allegedly involved in murder and rape, according to Afghan government officials.
The Afghanistan government had emailed various international the crimes committed by the eight men along with the pictures. The Amnesty International condemned the executions.
In the backdrop, the Taliban militants on Thursday said that it would assassinate neighboring Indian citizens over the execution of Pakistan born terrorist involved in 2008 Mumbai attacks. A spokesman for the militant group has told Reuters news agency from an undisclosed location attacks would be staged against Indian interests over the execution.
Meanwhile Taliban militants staged a suicide attack on a Shiite Muslim procession in the twin city of Rawalpindi in Pakistan killing an estimated 23 people and wounding 62 others.
The attacks came as Pakistan government welcomed world’s Muslim leaders for a summit.
