Netherlands: Police armed with batons and tear gas canisters descended
into a small town in Netherlands after a teenager’s birthday went viral
on Facebook. The teen failed to make the invite private which lead to
chaotic scenes.
Police who were called were pelted with stones, bottles and rocks when they tried to enter the house. According to reports several people were injured in the melee, but no arrests have been made so far.
Media reports said at least 4,000 teenagers turned up at the event, where the population is only 18,000. The teenager who inadvertently posted the invitation has fled her home. Many teenagers created Facebook and Twitter accounts naming the party as Project-X. One website claimed that at least 150,000 people have been invited for the party.
