Pakistani minister offers $ 100,000 to assassinate anti-Islamic film maker (updated)
A Pakistani government minister has announced a bounty of $ 100,000 on the head of the anti-Islamic movie producer.
The minister for Railway Ghulam Ahmed Bilour has said that whoever kills the film maker would be rewarded with $ 100,000.
He has also called for support from Taliban and Al Qaeda members to assassinate the film maker, who lives in Southern California. “There is no other way to instill fear among blasphemers than to kill them”, Bilour was quoted by Indian television channel NDTV.
The announcement was made at a news conference in Peshawar, a hot bed for violence. Opponents voiced shock over the statement since many of minister’s supporters have been killed by Taliban insurgents in recent past.
His call came just 24 hours after 24 people were killed in wide spread anti-Islamic riots in Pakistan.
“If there is a case lodged against me in an international court or in this country’s courts, I will ask people to hand me over to (foreign countries)… I want to show these countries that we will not tolerate such things,” he was quoted as saying by the Pakistani media.
