Mobile phone services suspended in Pakistan to prevent mass scale protests against anti-Islamic movie
Pakistan
government has suspended mobile phone services in 15 cities across the
country to avoid to any violence against U.S and other western interests
as the country prepared to observe Yaum-i-Ishaq-Rasool (Love for
Prophet’s day).
The government poured in additional troops and policemen and moved empty shipping containers and cranes around U.S consulate in Lahore to prevent attacks or demonstrations organized by militant groups .
The DAWN newspaper reported that schools, government offices, businesses, public transport and financial institutions will be closed on Friday to observe Prophet’s day.
The mobile phone services will remain suspended to prevent any groups organizing mass-scale protests or attacks.
Political and religious leaders have organized processions and against anti-Islamic movie, “The Innocence of Muslims”. Local authorities said that there would be tight security thrown and plain clothed policemen would be stationed at vulnerable locations.
