A
Bangladesh born informant recruited by New York police department to
gather information about suspected Islamic militants in US soil has
called it quits, denouncing his handlers, Reuters reported.
The informant, whose name was not revealed has posted a message on Facebook stating that he is quitting and also exposed himself as an informant to the public, the Reuters said.
He was recruited by NYPD as a part of intelligence gathering program the department launched aftermath of 9/11 attacks.
“I was jus (sic) of pretending to be friends with ya cuz I honestly thought i was fighting terrorism, but let’s be real, it’s all a f…king scheme,” the informant wrote, according to the source. “It was all about the money,” the informant wrote on his Facebook page, according to Reuters.
Apparently the informant was not involved in any sort of investigations against suspected Islamic militants nor played a role in the arrest of Bangladeshi man captured last week attempting to blow-up the Federal Reserve Building in Manhattan.
Since 9/11 NYPD frequently recruited foreign-born nationals to gather information despite their legal status.
