A Louisiana woman who attracted worldwide media attention after claiming that she was attacked and set on fire by three men in white hoodies has been slammed by police officers as fake and a liar. The 20 year old claimed the attackers, before fleeing scrawled KKK on a car, a racial slur to indicate it was a hate-crime.

On Friday the investigators claimed that woman Sharmeka Moffitt faked the attack, scribbled KKK on her car and set herself on fire.
Last week Moffitt called 911 to complain that she was attacked by three men when she was exercising at a park near Franklin Parish in Winnsboro by three men dressed in white hoodies, who later scrawled “KKK” on her car. She suffered third-degree burns and was rushed to hospital in critical condition.

The police claimed that she lied about the attack and set herself on fire. “This was a disturbing case for all involved,” Franklin Parish Sheriff Kevin Cobb told a press conference. “All indications show this was a self-inflicted situation.”
