authorities have arrested a man planning to launch an attack on the
Federal Reserve Building in Lower Manhattan, just a few hundred yards
away from the World Trade Center.
Officials said the man in custody is Quazi Mohammad Rezwanul Ahsan Nafis, a resident of Jamica in Queens.
The 21 year old was arrested as a he a drove a van laden with explosives from Long Island to Manhattan and as soon as he parked the van near the federal building he was arrested by the Feds and the New York police department men.
Nafis was arrested in a sting operation carried out jointly by NYPD and FBI. The officials asserted the public was never at risk.
No other details were available at the time this article going on line. The 21 year old is expected to appear at federal courts later in the afternoon. Officials said that he acted on his own.
