Supreme Court rejected an emergency prosecution plea to reinstate
today’s execution against convicted Philadelphia killer Terrance
Williams, the first of its kind in 10 years in the state.
“At about 3:45 p.m., the court in a one-sentence order denied the District Attorney’s emergency motion and ordered court personnel to draft a schedule for filing legal briefs and, perhaps, an oral argument”, the Philly News said on its website.
Williams, 46, was convicted of murdering a 56 year old churchman by savagely beating with him a tire iron when he was 18 years old. Williams was a Cheyney university freshman and a high school football player at the time of conviction.
