militant groups have demanded the anti-Islamic film maker to be
‘hanged’ and wants the U.S government to hand over radical pastor Terry
Jones to be tried under Sharia law.
On Friday hundreds of protesters took to the streets chanting “Death to America”, but the government anticipating violence poured in additional policemen to cordon-off the outer perimeters of U.S consulates and U.S interests in Karachi and Islmabad.
In Lahore, a hotbed for anti-US actvities, deomnstrators backed by Hafiz Saeed, who has a $ 10 million bounty on him by the U.S government demanded that Pakistan government to expel the U.S ambassador and diplomatic staff other embassies.
The demonstrators chanted “hang the film maker and death to Terry Jones”.
In Tunisia three demonstrators were killed and further 28 wounded when police opened fire.
In Nigeria police opened fire at protesters forcing them to flee, there were no reports of casualties.
In Sudan four people were killed when police and demonstrators clashes. According reports protesters scaled the U.S embassy walls and fired shots at the building. Earlier in the day, the demonstrators also attacked German embassy and set fire to German and American flags.
In U.S, the government demanded You Tube to review whether the anti-Islam movie, “The Innocence of Muslims” violated terms of use and on Thursday night Indian government requested You Tube to take down the movie in fear of attacks against U.S interests.
However the movie remained on YouTube site and various other sites online.
In Sinai, Egypt, unconfirmed reports said that U.N peacekeeping forces were attacked by unidentified group over the film, but at the time this article going on line, the Guardian Express of Los Angeles was not able to verify the incident.
