South India: U.S consulate attacked with rocks and footwear, 25 protesters injured in the melee
Demonstrators in South India threw
rocks and pelted the U.S consulate with footwear to protest against the
anti-Islamic movie, despite U.S government’s repeated statements the
movie was a work of a private citizen.
According to sources in Chennai, the capital city of Tamil Nadu, the
window panels near the entrance and a police guard post was damaged.
Police forces baton-charged to disperse the crowd and according to reports 25 protesters suffered injuries.
